Rosie O'GRady "The difficult nurse patient relationship"
The aim of this project is to create an e-learning package for general nurses with the aim of improving their knowledge, confidence and skill awareness when managing difficult nurse patient relationship. An e-learning package has been developed that uses a problem based learning case scenario approach. Nurses are guided through a clinical presentation of a consumer presenting with difficult behaviours, including demandingness, dependency, manipulative and attention seeking behaviours. The e-learning approach allows individuals to interact with the case study, in a facilitative learning style.
Communicating with Patients from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
Core competencies for health care professionals include good communication skills and the ability to tailor health delivery to meet the specific needs of the patients. This e-learning tool is an interactive learning package designed to help the user develop these skills in relation to patients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. It is anticipated that it will take health care professionals aproximately 30 minutes to complete the tool.
The e-learning tool is presented as case scenario of a patient, Ms Shu Fen Chen, an Australian citizen born in Mainland China. The scenario involves a story told from a nurse's perspective based on real life experiences, recounted by practising nurses. The scenario is presented in a multimedia format including text, audio and video.
